It’s March, and we are hoping Punxsutawney Phil was right, and Spring will be right around the corner. Lucky for York area residents there is plenty of local events happening to keep us busy whether winter sticks around or not. Whether you are into music, art, food, crafts, wine or staying active, there is a York area event for you in March.

March 1
Meatballs & Music
This one-man show gives you a glimpse into Tom Sweitzer’s turbulent but inspiring childhood. Over 90 minutes you will laugh, cry, and be uplifted. The show begins at 3:00 PM at the DreamWrights Center for Community Arts located at 100 Carlisle Avenue in York. Tickets are $20. Purchase them and learn more by clicking here.

Graham Nash Concert in York
Legendary artist Graham Nash, of Crosby, Stills, and Nash, will be performing at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts located at 50 North George Street in York. Graham will be performing songs and telling stories of his life as an artist. The show begins at 7:30 PM, and tickets start at $49. Click here for more information and to purchase tickets.

Acey Slade – Artist Meet & Greet
The Dark Parlour gallery, located at 118 East King Street in York, will be hosting Acey Slade’s photography exhibit throughout March. Acey Slade is a Pennsylvania native who has played guitar or bass Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Dope, Murderdolls and the Misfits. His photography has been featured in the New York Daily News and Rolling Stone. Come to the Dark Parlour for a chance to meet and speak with Acey Slade from 5:00 – 7:45 PM. First Friday: Downtown York
If you haven’t been to a First Friday event, now is a great time to start! The first Friday of each month from 5:00- 9:00 PM restaurants, bars, shops, and cultural venues join forces to create a great time for the community. Strand Theatre: Postmodern Jukebox
The Appell Center for Performing Arts will be hosting Postmodern Jukebox in their Strand Theatre at 7:30 PM. Collision, a Conversation with Artist Deborah Dancy
The York College of Pennsylvania will be hosting a conversation with Deborah Dancy from 5:30 – 7:00 PM at the DeMeester Recital Hall, Wolf Hall. Deborah Dancy, Fine Art Juror for YCP’s 2020 Annual Juried Student Exhibition, is an artist who works in a variety of media. Click here to learn more about this free event.

CapComedy: Mark Gregory
Mark Gregory will be performing at the Appell Center for Performing Arts in the Capitol Theatre at 7:30 PM. Mark has appeared on many TV shows and comedy festivals. York Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day with a parade through York. The parade kicks off at 1:00 PM from Market to Penn Streets. This a free, family-friendly event with live entertainment throughout downtown beginning at 11:00 AM. Click here to learn more.

York Story Slam: Embarassing Moments
The York Story Slam is held the third Tuesday of each month at the Holy Hound Taproom in York. Each month has a different theme. March’s theme is “Embarrassing Moments.” Each month’s winner will compete in November for the title of “York’s Best Storyteller.” Have a second chance” story to tell? Strand Theatre: Erth’s Prehistoric Aquarium Adventure
Appell Center for the Performing Arts is hosting Erth’s Prehistoric Acquirim Adventure in the Strand Theatre. The is immersive family-friendly show explores the depths of the ocean where prehistoric reptiles lived long, long ago. The Handsome Cab presents Spring Fash Bash 2020
Celebrate the first day of spring with a fashion show and a glass of wine supporting research for Parkinson’s Disease through the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The fashion show will be hosted by the Handsome Cab and begins at 5:30 PM. The event also includes door prizes, music, and information about the Foundation. Creative York: Date Night PotteryMarch 20
Creative York located at 10 North Beaver Street in York will be hosting a couple’s beginner pottery class on Friday night. Grab someone special and learn the basics of creating pottery on a potter’s wheel. The instructor will demonstrate the basic process of creating pottery from clay. Then students will be able to create an original piece of pottery. This is a BYOB and snack event. The cost is $45 and advanced registration is recommended. Reserve your spot here.

Strand Theatre: YorVoice
The Appel Center for Performing Arts will be hosting the YorVoice band competition. Local, York County musicians and bands will be competing for the YorVoice Vocal and Band titles. Making Insects: A Guide to Restoring the Little Things that Run the World
The Community Conservation Committee will be hosting a discussion on improving our landscapes to restore insect populations at the York College of Pennsylvania. Doug Tallamy will be sharing interesting facts and tips in the Willman Business Center Lecture Hall. Click here for more information.

Downtown Beer & Chocolate Tasting Tour
The Downtown Beer & Chocolate Tasting Tour will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The tour will include seven stops at different downtown York establishments. Each stop will include a small plate (chocolate included) and a craft beer sample from a local brewery. Grab your ticket and spot here.
