It’s February in southcentral Pennsylvania, the dog days of winter. Lucky for York area residents there is plenty of local events happening to keep us busy. Whether you are into music, art, food, crafts, wine or staying active, there is a York area event for you in February.

Valentine’s/Galentine’s Paint Night
Looking for something different to do on Valentine’s day? Grab your significant other or group of friends and head over to the Parliament Arts Organization on 116 East King Street in York for an evening of painting. The fun begins at 6:00 PM and lasts until 8:00 PM. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased in advance to reserve your spot. Click here for more information or to purchase tickets.
Cap Comedy: Liz Russo
If you prefer laughs to love on Valentine’s Day, check out Liz Russo, stand-up comedian, at the Appell Center for Performing Arts located at 50 North George Street in York. Liz is a native of Pennsylvania who has been performing stand-up for over ten years. She has appeared on television and podcasts. Her comedy is geared toward a mature audience. 80s Glow in the Dark Body Paint Yoga
This event is exactly as it sounds. Get your face and/or body painted, 80s style, with UV paints. Then get your yoga with an hour yoga session. If you love yoga, are looking to get outside of your comfort zone and have a good time, then join others looking to do the same at the Parliament Arts Organization on 116 East King Street in York. Clay Workshop
Creative York, located at 10 North Beaver Street, is hosting a clay workshop for beginners. In this two-hour workshop, you will learn how to create a piece of pottery using a potter’s wheel. Each student will begin with a ball of clay and receive step-by-step instructions along with individual assistance from the instructor to create your piece of pottery. The workshop runs from 3:00 PM-5:00 PM and costs $45. Click here to learn more and register.
Kable House Presents GA-20
Kable House Presents is a concert series in York held in the historic Central Market House at 34 West Philadelphia Street. GA-20 will be performing on February 15th starting at 7:00 PM. They are a traditional blues band from Boston who play heavy blues music from the 50s and 60s. You can purchase tickets and get more information here.

Sunday School: Chocolate and Wine Pairing

York Story Slam
The York Story Slam is held the third Tuesday of each month at the Holy Hound Taproom in York. Each month has a different theme. February’s theme is “Second Chances.” Each month’s winner will compete in November for the title of “York’s Best Storyteller.” Have a second chance” story to tell? Legally Blonde the Musical

Paris Washboard
One band made up of only four instruments: clarinet, trombone, piano, and washboard. Paris Washboard has been surprising audiences for over 25 years with their unique sound. Cousler Park 10K, 5K, and two-person 10K Relay Race
Your choice of running a 10K, 5K, or a 10K relay race at Cousler Park located at 1060 Church Road in York. Races begin at 8:30 AM. Everyone will receive a fun finisher medal along with food and refreshments post-race. Register and learn more by clicking here.

Restaraunt Week York kicks on February 24th and runs through March 1st. This is the tenth annual restaurant week in York. Great restaurants and bars all around town will be participating and creating special menus for the event. The special menus will include special offerings and pricing as follows:

3rd Annual Heart and Hope Gala
Support the Cornerstone Youth Home by attending the annual gala. Cornerstone Youth Home’s mission is “Increasing a student’s capacity for life-long educational success by disrupting the cycle of homelessness and transience in a safe, stable, restorative practice home environment.” Enjoy entertainment, food, and fellowship while supporting a great cause. Plena Libre, a Puerto Rican-based ensemble, will be performing at the Appell Center for Performing arts starting at 7:30 PM. Plena Libre has been together for 20 years and 14 albums.
